About Calvary

Calvary Baptist Church started in 1956.  We have been associated with the Conservative Baptist Association of Northern California (Next Generation Churches) since our inception.

What We Believe

The Bible-  We believe that the Bible is God's Word, that it is inspired by God, it is completely true, inerrant and accurate, and that it is our sole authority on all matter of faith and Godly living.  2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-20

God the Father-  We believe in God the Father, perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, measureless in power.  We believe that He exists in a triunity of persons.  We rejoice that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.  Pslams 145:8-9; 1 Chronicles 29:11

God the Son-  We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, of virgin birth, sinless in His life, making atonement for the sins of the world in His death.  We believe in His bodily resurrection and visible return for His Church.  Colossians 1:13-22

God the Holy Spirit-  We believe in God the Holy Spirit who came forth from God the Father to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify and comfort those who believe in Jesus Christ.  Titus 3:5-6 or John 14:16-19

Doctrine of Sin-  We believe that all people by nature and by choice are sinners.  They are dead in their sins, seperated from God, and subject to God's wrath.  All people are hopelessly lost apart from divine grace and salvation in Jesus Christ.  Romans 3:23; 6:23

Doctrine of Salvation-  We believe that the death of Jesus on the cross is the perfect sacrifice for sin.  By His death and resurrection, we are redeemed from sin, reconciled to God, justified by grace alone through faith alone, adopted into the family of God, and regenerated by the Holy Spirit.  Slavation is appropriated by personal conversion, consisting of repentance from sin and trust in God's provision in Christ, resulting in full forgiveness of sin and new life with Christ.  Ephesians 2:1-9; Romans 10:9-10

The Church-  We believe that the church is a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and of which all regenerated people are members.  We believe that a local church is a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized following a confession of faith, and associated for worship, service and fellowship.  We believe in the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord's Supper, for perpetially proclaiming to a lost world the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and enthroning Him as Lord and Master.  We believe that all human betterment and social improvements are the inevitable byproduct of such a Gospel.  Ephesains 5:23-27
