Getting to know each other
We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at Calvary a great one!
Calvary meets every weekend on Sundays at 506 Cottonwood Street (Corner of Cottonwood and W. Lincoln):
Worship Service at 9:00 am
Coffee and Snacks from 10:00-10:30 am
Worship Service: at 10:30 am
Youth (6th-12th Grade) at 10:30 am
How long is a Calvary service?
In total, a Calvary service is about 60 minutes in length. Services begin with basic announcements and the Calvary band leading the church in music - song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable.
There is a short prayer time before the music portion of service is complete, and then one of our pastors will come out to share an encouraging and hope-filled message about Jesus.
What's the culture like at Calvary?
Sunday's at Calvary are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed a guest and apart of our church family.
What about my kids?
Here at Calvary we love to have the kids be a part of our worship services! We want them to grow up knowing what church is like.
Kids are a part of each Sunday morning service for the singing and usually are present for communion and baptisms. Then, right before the sermon, the kids are dismissed to Sunday school out in the Fellowship Hall. We want Sunday school to be a fun time for our kids to learn more about God.
We know that kids will be squirmy and noisy sometimes, we don’t mind, we used to be kids too! Quietly explain each part of the service to your children, model for them a worshipful heart, and answer any of their questions.
We believe that the way children are welcomed in the church directly affects the way they respond to church and to God. We want kids who grow up to love God and love the Church!
Nursery (Ages 0-4)
We have separate play areas for infants and toddlers for their safety. There is a check-in policy that will help us contact you, should we need you during service. For safety for all, whoever checks in the child, also needs to pick them up.
Along with paid staff, we have volunteers for each service, who have been background checked. We provide Sunday school for preschoolers using Lifeway Gospel Project. It is the same curriculum that is used for Sunday school with the elementary school age group.
This will help with an easy transition into ‘big kid’ Sunday school. If a pre-k child is of appropriate age in September, when all kids get to move up to the next grade level, they can then join the Kindergarten class.
Sunday School (K-5th)
For First Service, the classes are split between Kindergarten-First, Second-Third, and Fourth-Fifth grades. Sixth graders are encouraged to sit in service with their parents. If they would like to volunteer with the younger kids (Nursery or Kindergarten-First grades), they may.
We have a calendar where they may sign up for a day to volunteer. And if they really want, they can join the Fourth and Fifth grades Sunday school class. For Second Service Sunday School, Kindergarten-Fifth grades are combined. Both services use the same curriculum from Lifeway Gospel project.
In the Summer, starting in mid June to Labor Day, both classes are combined. The weekend after Labor Day, traditional Sunday school starts back up.
